Walleyes are stocked annually as fry and as fingerlings. Walleye fingerlings were last stocked in the fall of 2019. The Pelican Lake Association and Walleye Alliance Inc. contributed funds towards this stocking. The Walleye catch of 6.5/gill net was average when compared to similar lakes. The Walleye ranged from 7.8" to 25.9" and had an average length of 15.4".
Northern Pike were sampled in low to average numbers. Northern Pike ranged from 13.4" to 30.0" with an average length of 23.1". Fish above the 22"-26" slot made up 24% of the catch. Lakes in this part of the state have a new Northern Pike regulation enacted in 2018: possession limit of 10 with not more than 2 over 26". All from 22"-26" must be immediately released. Please refer to the current Minnesota Fishing Regulations for additional information.
Yellow Perch were sampled in below average numbers. Most were too small to be of interest for angling, with an average length of 7.3" though the largest measured 10.8".
Panfish numbers were good for both Bluegills and Black Crappie. Average size was not as good, however, with average Bluegill length at 5.0" and Black Crappie at 7.4". The largest Bluegill captured was 8.3" and the largest Black Crappie was 12.8".
Pelican Lake surveys has fishable populations of Largemouth Bass and a few, bonus, Smallmouth Bass.
